Biago Adile
MIPS President
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It gives me great pleasure as the Chairman of the Executive Board to invite you to our Fourth MIPS Annual meeting. The venue is the beautiful Mediterranean Island Country of Malta famous for its central Mediterranean location, warm climate and recreational areas, rich multi-cultural history and three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Congratulations to our Host Chair: Professor Alberto Vella who will certainly organize an excellent meeting to build on the exceptional success of MIPS 2015 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Our education committee chaired by Professor Fulya Dokmeci has ensured that the scientific programme is specific to physician educational needs, training priorities and patient care in our Mediterranean countries. This year, we are introducing an interactive theme to the programme with plenty of time devoted for discussions with the speakers panel to maximize the educational value. There will be hands-on workshops and a dedicated session for male urinary incontinence as well as the usual podium and surgical video presentations. We are also hosting 2 guest lectures for our affiliated societies: the SUFU (Society of Urodynamics, Female pelvic medicine and Urogenital reconstruction) lecture will be given by the President, Professor Gary Lemack and the EUGA (European Uro-Gynecological Association) lecture will be given by the President, Professor Stefano Salvatore. I, therefore, wholeheartedly advise our trainee colleagues, whether fellows or residents, to use this opportunity to share their research findings with Mediterranean colleagues and learn from the experts and key opinion leaders in pelvic floor dysfunctions. There will be two awards for the best basic science and clinical presentation and the winners will receive free annual subscription for 2017 as well as free registration for our next annual meeting. This is an occasion to further the scientific exchange and friendship in the Mediterranean region with a consequent positive impact on incontinence care and service delivery to our patients. Biagio, Alberto, Natalia and I are very much looking forward to welcome you in Malta in December, 2016.

In the first half of 2018, Valletta will be the European Capital of Culture. The local organising committee is proud to host expert in the field of urogynaecology from around the globe, bringing together expertise from different disciplines in the field. The main aim of the meeting is the innovative approach to the field of urogynaecology. The meeting will encompass oral presentations, surgical presentations via video-conferencing and poster presentations. The meeting is open to all disciplines pertaining to the field. We are aiming towards providing the latest updates in the field, to the heart of the Mediterranean. On behalf of the committee, I look forward to welcoming you in December, 2016.
